I love that the New York comedy community is as supportive off stage as it is on. In fact, if it weren’t for the kindness and encouragement of folks such as Sarah Wharton, Halle Kiefer, The Smitts, Terry Withers, Shannon Taing, Abra Tabak, Dan Hodapp, Jordan Klepper, Leslie Meisel, Nick Feitel and Zack Willis, who once paid me an unsolicited (and undeserved) compliment that makes me smile even now, I’d have quit this game years ago.

But the overabundance of love is also problematic. I broke into a sweat a few Sundays ago not because I agreed that I didn’t deserve a callback, but because I was led to believe, time and time again, that I most certainly did.

So while I welcome your laughter and applause, coaches and teachers and peers, I need your honest feedback. And as someone who’s participated in a fair share of improv bar bitch sessions, I know that you’re more than capable of fulfilling the latter. We’re extremely skilled, opinionated, ruthless critics who are nevertheless conditioned to gush (invariably), “Geat show!”

If my second beat was solid, tell me it was solid. But if my walk-on sucked, tell me how much. And be specific.
